The Glasgow Rose
 
For a few short weeks in the summer of 2026, two of Glasgow's great icons met in the sky above the Clyde. Suspended from the Finnieston Crane — that grand old cantilever landmark to the city's shipbuilding past, standing sentinel beside the Hydro — bloomed The Glasgow Rose: a bold, ten-metre reimagining of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's beloved rose motif. This print captures that fleeting sight, when the muscle of Glasgow's industrial heritage and the grace of its artistic soul hung together as one image over the river.
 
The rose itself carries a story worth telling. Created by Glasgow artist Emer Tumilty to mark the opening of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, it's a contemporary tribute to the flowing rose designs of Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Macdonald — a motif recognised the world over as a symbol of the city's creativity. Because the installation was only ever a temporary landmark, in place for the Games and then gone, this print is a way to hold on to a moment in Glasgow's story that won't come round again.
